Cedar Ford Covered Bridge

Cedar Ford Covered Bridge Reconstruction

Jim and Daniel were the Engineers of Record on the design of this bridge reconstruction. After the Cedar Ford Bridge was burned down, only a handful of members remained. Those members were stored by Jim for many years before Monroe County decided to rebuild it and become their first covered bridge in the County in almost 100 years! The original timbers were incorporated into the bridge’s reconstruction. The portal bracing was designed to replicate the original builder of the bridge, the Kennedy Brothers, which includes their signature ornate scrollwork. The new bridge used all original construction techniques and methods, while incorporating durable new technology, like its metal standing seam roof. The bridge is now placed on Maple Grove Road over Beanblossom Creek, just northeast of Ellettsville, Indiana. The ribbon cutting was a huge success and beverages were supplied by Oliver Winery.
